I need to find something to do in my spare time. Preferably something done alone or as a small group (2 or 3),and something that doesn’t involve computers or videogames (my dad’s orders..).

I’m 15 and enjoy media and the like, games (videogames and other types), puzzles (not jigsaws – rubik’s cube and stuff like that), and computing (though that isn’t the sort of thing I want).

Any ideas welcome!

Another note, I’m not going to take up a musical instrument. I already play guitar and a bit of piano.

Since you seem to do mostly sedentary hobbies you should take up some sport to balance out.

The choice is large: table tennis, judo, karate, cycling, badmington, roller skating etcetera etcetera.

Photography? Digitals these days obviously involve a little computing, but enjoyable, and the only expense is the camera and batteries.
Plastic kit modelling? Good for winter nights, but gets pricey with all the paints etc.

geocaching. i think its cool anyways.

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.

I like trying to do a bit of electronics in my free time, I’ve made a computer controlled rc car and an Infrared proximity sensor, I’m trying to do sensors for a line following robot which are pretty simple too. It may not be what your looking for though because some of the ideas you have will need a computer. Heres a link to my site with some info on what I’ve done, not a whole lot up yet but feel free to ask me any questions.

You could also get a PIC programming board and some simple components and make your own primitive games but again you’d need a computer. Heres some examples of what people have done, might interest you.

Hope thats of use to you :)
