I just got an inexpensive average-quality acoustic guitar to start practicing on and 3 strings have broken already! What brand/kind should I buy to replace them?

  1. Guitar Doctor says:

Well you need to get acoustic guitar strings obviously Since you are a Beginner (I’m Assuming) You will more than likely want to get a light set since it will be easier on your fingers

As far as the brand goes its more of a personal once you start playing for a while you will begin to prefer
    a brand type etc.

Good brands that i recommend are D’addario, Elixir, Dean Markley

  2. Mikey, just Mikey says:

A more important question is what are you doing to break strings? Strings normally do not break unless they’re very old, abused, or over-tightened. If it’s the last one then get a good clip-on electronic tuner and make sure the strings are at proper pitch.

Any standard brand of acoustic strings will be fine. Martin, D’Addario, Elixir, and lots of others make fine strings.
