Guitar Chords: Chord Changes On Guitar, Please Help!!?

Iv just started learning to play guitar but I’m really struggling with chord changes, like I can’t play a song cause I find it impossible to change from for example g to c easily without stopping and having to look. Is this normal for all beginners? How can I make it flow easier and do chord changes? It’s really frustrating me, please help?! X

Start slowly and progress. Guitar playing takes time.

it’s normal. Just keep practicing the movements and you’ll get it eventually!

It’s perfectly normal. Practice and time are the best ways to get yourself better, but one of the methods that I recommend to my students is that they find a situation where they’re forced to learn their chords. For me, I started playing in the worship band at my church. Sure, I didn’t know what I was doing, but after about three or four months I knew my chords very well because I had to learn how to play them. I couldn’t just walk off of the stage so I had to learn to actually play my chords.

But yes, this is perfectly normal, and you’ll get better over time.

Chill out dude. You’re a beginner right? everyone starts somewhere. You have to be patient with guitar and persevere. You might want to try practising a simple chord progression along to a metronome at a really slow tempo until the chord shapes become muscle memory and you don’t even have to think about it. If you practise enough, you will be able to do it!!!

Take lessons and practice. To play any musical instrument well requires hard work over many years: there are no short cuts.
