Guitar Chords: Alternative G Chord On Guitar?

Lyrics: Vs 1: Honey I know that I’ve had to be away Far too long, you shouldn’t have to live this way On your own, in that dark and lonely place I know you need me there Chorus: So I’ll be on my way home Just as soon as my job is done I’ll never quit what I start Which is why I’m still here, It’s why you still have my heart And I can’t promise you much, But you’ll always have my love Keep it close to your soul, Wherever you go, until I get home Vs 2: Honey I know, that you want a normal life Where I come home, and cuddle up to you each night But while I’m gone, you give me strength to carry on It’s your love that makes me strong Chorus Repeat Bridge: They say home is where the heart is, That’s where I wanna be But if the Good Lord says it’s time to go Please don’t worry about me Chorus: Cuz I’ll be on my way home and I can hear Him say “well done” And I will wait for you my love And you’ll never be alone Girl, just keep on holding on Until I get home Thank you for your support of the music and of our soldiers.

Hey guys! I only recently (2 weeks ago) brought a guitar, so far I’m okay with all the chords but Im struggling REALLY BADLY with the G chord, my fingers never hit the right strings accurately and its really frustrating me because nearly all songs have the G chord in there.

Soon as there are almost 5 alternative ways to play the F chords, are there any alternative way to play the G chord? if so please tell me in beginner guitar language, like what string to press down and which frets. you guys will literally save my life if u could tell me an alternative!

Thanks.

This site has all the variations of G chord (and any other chord as well, I think!): http://www.8notes.com/guitar_chord_chart/G.asp

Had you tried searching online? This was the first site that came up. There are a couple on there that don’t use frets too far away (the third one down, for instance), but honestly the way with guitar is just to struggle through, placing your fingers really slowly and practising the chord until it becomes automatic. Especially after only two weeks — it takes a long time to learn an instrument, and running away from the hard bits won’t necessarily help in the long run!

G is my favorite chord in the guitar and i use it with 4 fingers
    ……….2…….
    ………….1….
    ………………
    …………….3..
    …………….4..

    1-index
    2-middle
    3-ring
    4-pinky

the 2 is in the 2nd fret and all the rest are in the 3rd fret. if it suits you, you can remove 4 and put 3 where 4 used to be
