I’ll tell you a little bit about myself: I’m 17, I go to school (6th form) I love music: I play the guitar/piano/keyboard/drums/trumpet/sing and i write songs. (Constantly, annoys the hell out of my parents ) There’s a girl i like, she’s my age; but unfortunately she already has a boyfriend. I’m not about to say she’s my only chance for love: I’ve got my whole life stretching out ahead of me… but i do like her.

I talk to her every day in school, sometimes seriously but more often we have wonderfully random conversations about anything. She likes my songs, or at least if she doesn’t she is impecible at hiding it: she likes my songs more than my parents like them (the songs)! I’ve played a couple of songs for her in the past (and secretly dedicated them to her) and I’ve written a few songs about/for her directly, although I haven’t played those to her.

However she does have a boyfriend, I’ve never met him, I don’t know how close they are, she rarely talks about him.

I’ve ended up screwing everything up royally before, and I don’t want to lose her as a friend; but I do really like her. I know that it’s best to wait until she’s split up with her boyfriend; but I don’t know if that will happen at all, or if it will happen before we leave school and go our separate ways…

With a girl i liked before, I waited until she split up with her bf, but it drove me half insane waiting, and then I panicked and got it all wrong in asking her out; ended up upsetting her instead… we don’t talk anymore. Since then I’ve found out that she actually wasn’t a nice person at all, and I may well have dodged a bullet. But that’s enough about her… the girl I like atm, is far nicer and we get on much better than I ever did with the other lass.

She does NOT have any idea how I feel about her. Talking to her is great, but knowing me I’m very likely to say sommat stupid and she’ll suddenly realize and run a mile. I’m sure that I’m stuck in that position where she likes me as a friend, but nothing else.

So what would you do if you were in my situation?

My ex and I dated for 9 months, and had broken up and got back together once before. 5 days ago when we broke up, it felt like it might be final, and my ex was really rude to me, and I was hurt. My ex is leaving for college in 8 weeks, and if we get back together and fight, summer’s gonna suck, but if we don’t fight, it could be fun. I care about my ex a lot, and later that day my ex told me that my ex still love me.

Yesterday I hung out with a long time good friend, who I’ve liked for awhile, but I never really intended to act upon it. My good friend and I hung out and it was great, I talked to my good friend about my ex, and my good friend helped me. Then my good friend played me a song on the guitar, and there was a quiet pause. I just reached up and kissed my good friend. It was a very nice kiss, and i like it a lot. I’ve been wanting to for awhile, and I know my good friend has liked me for awhile also. After I left I texted my good friend and told them that I couldn’t do it because I still care for my ex, and I couldn’t bare to do that to my good friend, and that we’d have our time, but not until my ex leaves for college.

I really really care about my good friend, and I want to be with my good friend, but I don’t think it would be fair to my good friend to date my good friend when I still have those feelings for my ex.
What should I do?
