Guitar Scales: What Is A Scale?

This video is meant for a total beginner. It explains simple music theory concepts along with a few reasons why learning music theory is important. It also suggests books that can help a guitarist improve their music theory abilities. These videos are for the serious music students. You will find no guitar tab or other non-professional ways of describing music in these videos. The concepts presented are taught with the same pedagogy any other musical instrument. If you want to develop into a professional musician or want to have the abilities of a professional musician then these would be good videos to investigate.


I’ve started teaching myself guitar but I haven’t a clue what a scale is. Do they have anything to do with chords, since I know what they are.

Guitar Hero Games: Guitar Hero Without The Console?

Wouldnt it be easier if you could buy the ‘Guitar Hero’ game and plug it straight into the TV(without the console). all the computer parts are in the guitar, and if you want to update it or get new songs, all you would have to do is buy the software it off the net, put it on a USB memory stick and put that stick on the guitar and the software will be updated and you could play new songs.
more ppl have TV’s than console, this will hlp capture the market that doesnt have a console, so they should be making more money

Rock Guitar Songs: Looking For The Title Of A Song (Rock) From Years Ago..?

Years ago, I would say between 2003 and 2007, not sure.
A rock song created by a group from America. It was very known I think.

I heard it when I was shopping and just remembered I loved this song.

In the video clip it was a woman (brown hair, blue eyes and a lovely smile) very pretty I would say, who was walking with many people around her and at the end she just come to the guy who sings and sits on the bed where he is.

I’ve nearly finished playing Lego Star Wars which i’ve really enjoyed so any games that are similar to that or could interest someone who likes that sort of game (not particularly the lego part but the kind of fighting/ strategy type) Nothing that might get repetitive like wii sport or guitar hero (Cause i’ve already got them and im getting bored).
Ahh yeah should have mentioned, i have already completed Mario Kart. But i agree its very good, incase anyone else was wondering :)

Hi, I’m looking for some new music to listen to and I’ve been in a bit of a slump. I recently discovered Avril Lavigne’s cover of “Knocking on Heaven’s door” and it’s the song I’d like to base this request around. Here are a few things I’m currently looking for in music:

-I love female vocalists but a good male voice is also great.
-I like raw acoustic guitar. As in Avril’s cover the mellow voice and guitar strum really appeals to me
-I like trancy, smooth flowing songs. No sticatto for me please =)
-I read and write a lot of poetry and put a lot of merit into the lyrics of songs. Poetic strong lyrics are a plus
-thematically I like songs that explore a the range of human emotion. The longing forlorn aspects are what appeal to me in songs like KOHD and say Already Dead by Beck. That said, happy, sad, angry or complacent is all good as long as its dealt with tastefully and smoothly

ok so here’s the situation im in at the mo:
every year my parents spend £150 on me at xmas so this i asked for guitar hero world tour band bundle with drums etc so i went down town (yesterday) to show them what i wanted so we went into GAME and it advertised it coming out on 7th november and it was available for pre-order, if you pre-order you get a free bass guitar. so i asked one of the staff how much the band bundle will be when it comes out and he said it would be about £130 and then a member of staff next to us corrected him and said it will be £150 maybe even £180, now my parents said they would rather spend £10 deposit to pre-order and get me the bass guitar but they cant afford £180.
I just want to know if the price is confirmed for UK yet???
will it be £130, £150 or £180?
and i looked on play.com and amazon and game.co.uk and they all say £150 but they say it comes out on 14th november? so does it come out on the 7th or the 14th?? and is it definately going to be £150??
furthermore whats the difference between the bass guitar and the lead guitar???
can i use the bass as the lead and vice versa???

my little brother’s class is full of people playing instruments like guitar/drums/keyboard and it’s their leaving service coming up. they’re all fans of kind of indie rock but bearing in mind that the leaving service is held in a church the song has to be quite upbeat and have nothing rude in it.it also has to include quite alot of people so far i’ve thought of
don’t look back into the sun – the libertines (upbeat and has some good guitar bits in)
boys will be boys – ordinary boys (fitting to them and has a saxaphone bit in the middle so we can add another member to the band)
